About the event
The James Street String Quartet was formed by a group of musicians who would get together for fun and read Chamber Music. We enjoyed playing together so much that we decided to form our own official group, and our first concert was to have been March 15th, 2020. As we all know, the pandemic hit, and our concert was cancelled. But that didn't deter us. As the weather improved, we rehearsed outdoors using the four corners of a newly built deck. Musically, we appreciated having this chance to play together. A highlight of this time was when a fire truck stopped in front of the house, and when we stopped playing to see what was wrong, they applauded us. The firemen had stopped to listen!
The quartet has since prepared and performed six different programs at various locations including libraries, churches, and even a cidery. The four musicians, Holly Larson, Chelsea Reeves, Jody Van Voris, and Heather Walker are professional musicians who play in local orchestras and teach in the Capital Region. Our name comes from where we rehearse-James Street!
